The Hua Hin Manta Rays pulled away from the Chumphon Crocodiles for a 94-80 victory, powered by a scorching performance from import guard Alex Rodriguez, who erupted for a game-high 47 points on an efficient 13-of-25 from two and 7-of-13 from beyond the arc.
Rodriguez’s performance was nothing short of dominant. The veteran import was virtually unstoppable all night, finishing with 8 rebounds and 5 assists to go along with his scoring explosion, logging 36 minutes and posting an efficiency rating of 41 — by far the best on the floor.
Hua Hin got key complementary contributions from big man Scott Harris, who was a monster on the glass — collecting 22 total rebounds (13 defensive, 9 offensive) in nearly 39 minutes of work. Harris added 9 points and a block, finishing with a +11 plus-minus and a 26 efficiency rating. Nasree Achwarin rounded out Hua Hin’s starting unit with a steady 16-point, 9-rebound, 6-assist line, though he was challenged from the line, converting just 4-of-9 free throws.
Off the bench, RR Meneses provided a jolt of energy in limited minutes, posting a team-best +23 plus-minus in just over 15 minutes, while Taiwo Badmus chipped in 5 quick points in under 5 minutes of action.
For Chumphon, Nico Abeyta led the way with 19 points on efficient shooting — hitting 3-of-6 from deep and going 6-of-7 from the stripe — while adding 5 assists and finishing as the team’s most productive player with a +23 efficiency. Rene Alexandre added 17 points and Jalmariyus Pringle contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds before fouling out in 22 minutes. Siraphop Chaiyanukij was active on both ends with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks, but finished a team-worst -14.
The Crocodiles struggled from the three-point line as a team, shooting just 27.6% (8-of-29), and couldn’t overcome Rodriguez’s historic individual night. Hua Hin won the rebounding battle convincingly, 62-40, which proved decisive.
The Manta Rays improve with the win, while Chumphon will look to regroup in their next outing.
